Schooner Haukur - a one of a kind
Two-masted schooners similar to the Haukur were typical of deck-boats along the north coast of Iceland at the end of the 19th century.
The Schooner Haukur is today the only traditional gaff rigged sailboat afloat in Iceland, and she plays an important role in preserving knowledge of handling and maintaining a traditional sailing vessel.
She has a total of 6 sails with a oplain sail area of 132 sqm, which can give her a speed of up to 10 knots under full sails.
